Car Free Fridays and Lunch Breaks for Cyclists

News Release City of Long Beach Public Information Office

On Friday, January 1, the community is invited to participate in Car Free Fridays and Lunch Breaks for Cyclists.  The Car-Free Fridays campaign was launched this summer to encourage community members to ride a bicycle or use another form of alternative transportation the first Friday of every month to promote a more active, green Long Beach.

An added benefit of biking to work on designated Car-Free Fridays is taking advantage of “lunch break” discounts of up to 20 percent for cyclists, which are offered at more than 20 eateries in Long Beach between 11 am and 2 pm. Cyclists need only mention the promotion and show proof of ridership – helmet or bicycle lock key – to take advantage of the discounts.

For an updated list of participating Long Beach restaurants, please visit www.bikelongbeach.org. Interested in having your restaurant participate?  Contact Courtney Aguirre, Transportation Programs Planner, at courtney.aguirre@longbeach.gov or 562.570.6667.

Participating restaurants include: Continue reading «Car Free Fridays and Lunch Breaks for Cyclists »
